Located at Kokonoe Town, along Yamanami-Highway crossing over Handa-Highland at a foot Kuju mountain, near Yufuin hot springs, a popular tourism area. Kokonoe Town has a total geothermal power capacity of 150 MW, including Ohdake and Hatchobaru. Direct heat uses, such as bathing, space heating and greenhouse, are also common in Kokonoe Town.
